Dr. Neuman is a graduate of Yale University and UCSF; after completing his residency in anesthesiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 2008, he was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania from 2008-2010. He is an Associate Editor of Anesthesiology and was the 2015 recipient of the American Society of Anesthesiologists' Presidential Scholar Award, given once annually by this society to recognize outstanding achievements in scholarship by an early-career faculty member. In 2015, he also received the University of Pennsylvania's Marjorie A. Bowman Award for excellence in health services research. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two daughters.
