Biography

Nwamaka Eneanya, MD, MPH, FASN is currently an attending nephrologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to this position, she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Eneanya completed her nephrology training at the combined Nephrology Fellowship Program at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, medical degree from Meharry Medical College, and master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Eneanya is a clinical investigator with research interests that center on palliative care, informed decision-making and racial disparities among patients with advanced chronic kidney disease and end-stage kidney disease. Her work has been supported by NIDDK (K23 career development award), NIMHD (Loan repayment program), and the American Society of Nephrology (Sharon Anderson award). She is also passionate about promoting diversity within academia as well as pursuing educational and outreach opportunities through traditional and social media.
