Biography

 

Dr. Lee studies the effects of health policies on care delivery and patient outcomes, particularly the points at which patients change strata in terms of risks of complications and health care utilization. Her research interests include Medicare policy, utilization of post-acute care, critical care outcomes, and opioid overdose. She is a fellow in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard, and subsequently worked as a reporter in general news, health, and science for newspapers including The Boston Globe. She received a master’s degree in health policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and then worked as a senior health care analyst at the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Her work primarily focused on Medicare payment policies, in particular access to and utilization of physician services, and Medicare Advantage payment rates. She received her medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.
